Utah's Amano Chocolate Company won five medals -- one gold, two silvers and two bronze -- during the Academy of Chocolate Awards held recently in London.


Amano won four medals in the "Best bean-to-bar: dark chocolate" category. The Madagascar earned gold; the Ocumare and the Montanya (the company's newest bar) earned silver, while the Jembrana took bronze.


In the "Best milk chocolate bar" category, Amano Ocumare Milk Chocolate -- another new product -- took bronze.

that Amano has received top accolades from the London Academy. In 2008, it won a bronze, the highest medal given to an American company for dark chocolate.

"Winning five awards is virtually unheard of for an American chocolate maker," said Amano owner Art Pollard. He will travel to London in April to pick up the medals.
