According to the Gold-bear’s maker, Wilhelm II, German Emperor until 1918, loved them with all his heart. From exile in Doorn, he announced that the fruit-gum bears from Bonn were the best thing that the Weimar Republic had produced.  Throughout his eighty five year history, the Gold-bear has appealed to a varied spectrum of fans including Scientist Albert Einstein, former German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, American actress Sandra Bullock and the star of the musical Chicago, German chanteuse and actress Ute Lemper.
