The erstwhile ladies (and men in drag) of antiwar group Code Pink have been saving House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) the trouble of setting her alarm clock this week.
At 7 a.m. each morning beginning Tuesday, they have been showing up outside her luxury Georgetown apartment building with megaphones and dance routines to roust the lefty lawmaker from San Francisco and pressure her into forcing an end to the Iraq war.
“We’ve been trying to give her a wakeup call in the morning,†Code Pink spokeswoman Gael Murphy tells The Mouth. “Nancy, wake up and bring the troops home!â€
The ladies in pink brought a banner reading “Don’t Buy Bush’s War,†and even had a cup of coffee ready for Pelosi. But, alas, she refused to accept the steaming cup of joe this morning, Murphy says.
