Historically, the US has opportunistically supported military dictators and Islamists. Nevertheless, the right wing in Pakistan (military and Islamists) hate the US secularism and democratic values. And the left wing and secularists demonize the US–after all American made helicopters still kill secular Baloch separatists, and displaced Baloch children are denied relief supplies without a murmur of protest from the US.

Meanwhile, scared by the nukes, the US is desperately supporting Pakistan and trying to keep it from breaking up against the will of the smaller nations. Never mind that Pakistan tried its best to spread nukes to Iran, Libya, N. Korea and even Saddam’s Iraq (who declined to buy thinking it was a trap).. and it is only a matter of time before Pakistan agencies find another way to spread the nukes..
