Eddie Murphy Bolted From Oscars After Loss

'Dreamgirls' Star Was a Supporting Actor Frontrunner

It was clear from the look on Eddie Murphy 's face after Alan Arkin 's name was read as the Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner that he wasn't happy. But it appears that the 'Dreamgirls ' nominee wasn't going to stand, or even sit, for losing out to the competition.

According to FOX News, Murphy left the ceremony abruptly. By bolting from the Oscars early, he missed out on his co-star Jennifer Hudson's Oscar victory for Best Supporting Actress, as well as the 'Dreamgirls' medley performed near the end of the broadcast. The comedy superstar had been built up throughout the awards season as the man to beat in the category after his heralded turn as a troubled soul singer in 'Dreamgirls.'
