Boulder’s research and development component is further augmented by the existence of three federal laboratories in Boulder, each performing work associated with aerospace. These include the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In addition, the aerospace sector continues to provide diverse employment for the Boulder community, employing an estimated 500 technical workers alone.
