A teenager will appear in a Halifax courtroom Tuesday to be charged in the beating death of a five-month-old kitten.
The 16-year-old boy will face charges of injuring or endangering animals.
Two other youths were questioned about the beating that happened Saturday in the Spryfield area of Halifax. They were released without charges.
The boy spent Sunday night in custody at the Waterville youth detention facility.
Several people witnessed the kitten being beaten with a golf club, including an 11-year-old girl who owned the cat and her two 12-year-old cousins.
The black and white kitten, named Pearl, was sitting in the front yard of its home when it was attacked.
Two weeks ago, another cat was found hanging from a fence in the backyard of a Cole Harbour home.
