Coca-Cola Amatil's managing director, Terry Davis, knows a thing or two about competition.
Terry Davis tends to lean more to the World Bank's line of thinking about the recovery being long, slow and far away.
Mr Davis says, so far this has been "a rich man's recession", with bankers and financiers hardest hit.
"Our premium beer sales are up over 50 per cent this year, yet our SPC baked beans are up about the same amount, just growing extraordinarily," he said.
"Why? Meal replacement, cheap meal replacement and doing very well."
It seems, if you sell to the top and bottom ends of the income scale, and you are a giant company that dominates most of your markets, you cannot lose, good times or bad.
