Clinton-Obama Debate, Los Angeles January 31, 2008

After months of sharing crowded podiums, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had the stage to themselves Thursday as they met for the final debate before the Super Tuesday voting.

Seemingly frustrated by the love fest, the moderator, CNN's Wolf Blitzer, at one point tried to get Clinton to acknowledge that a comment by Obama on the subject of her initial support for giving President Bush the authority to invade Iraq --- a move Obama opposed --- "was a clear swipe at you."

"Really?" she asked with what seemed like exaggerated incredulity. "We're having such a good time."

Clinton cited the economic growth during her husband's administration, which followed that of the first President Bush, then drew wild applause as she quipped: "It did take a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and I think it may take another Clinton to clean up after the second Bush."
