Again, what is anger? Anger is the lust for vengeance. And what is hatred? Hatred is persistent, inveterate anger. . . . It is anger when it is new, and it becomes hatred after time has passed. Anger is a "speck," hatred, a "log." And so Christ says to us, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye" (Matthew 7:3)?
