The one competitive advantage West Virginia has is cheap electricity. President Obama and the Democratic Party took that away, 219-212.
West Virginia was not the target of the bill. But it must be satisfying for Democrats to punish a state that has voted for teh Republican in the last three presidential after voting Democratic in 14 of the previous 17 presidential elections.
The last time West Virginia had a Republican U.S. senator, there were 48 states.

Coal made it possible to smelt aluminum here. No more coal, no more aluminum jobs in West Virginia,.

And so on down the line.

The fact that there is no global warming — and the fact that even if there were, this bill does not stop China, India and the rest of the developing world from using coal –

All three members of the House from West Virginia — Republican Shelley Moore Capito and Democrats Alan Mollohan and Nick Joe Rahall — voted against the measure.

cap-and-trade bill is not the right way forward.
