Rape, huh, what is it good for? Apparently something.
“Far from a vile act, rape is a magical experience that benifits society as a whole.”
This, spelling error included, was just part of the article printed in the Central Connecticut State University newspaper by John Petroski. Aside from that sentence, the article goes on to say that without rape, the Roman empire would not be as great, “ugly women” would never have intercourse with anyone who wasn’t drunk, and prisoners would be denied “hot action.” I wish I could say “Just kidding” right now. Sadly, that was not included at the end of his article. What was included was his “bread and butter reason” for why rape should be ENDORSED, yes, endorsed. Apparently, rape stories are what his paper needs for front page news.
Rape Article Author Apologizes At CCSU
NEW BRITAIN --
His eyes red from lack of sleep, a chastened John Petroski emerged from seclusion Monday to face a horde of angry students and teachers at a campus forum at Central Connecticut State University.
Petroski took the podium before a hushed, tense audience - his first public appearance since the publication of a controversial article he wrote last week in the student newspaper describing rape as a "magical experience."
The article, meant to be a satire of media sensationalism, had missed its mark, incurring the wrath of hundreds of students over its depiction of rape as a boon to civilization and to "ugly women" who otherwise wouldn't be having sex.
Many in the audience felt Petroski had a lot to answer for, especially those who were familiar with some of the articles and comic strips he had previously written for the paper poking fun at sensitive topics such as abortion and affirmative action.
